Hi everyone.
This is my first faq on how to make a good website. The very first thing you need to do when making a website? It isn't the host, it isn't the coding, it isn't the graphics and it also isn't the skin. Then what is it? It is an idea. And that is where this faq is about.
The very first thing you do when making a website is thinking about the theme of your website. A theme can be anything. It can be a hobby of yours, or personal interest. It can be about religion, sport or world news. You can also make a forum that exists to support other forums, like a graphics design board. The best thing to do is to think up a couple of themes to chose from.
Next, you'll need to see if there is any demand for your board. For example: I rate a lot of boards. I'm an official AR rater and I can also be found at GOAYB on proboards support. What I see a lot of late, are Harry Potter forums. I know that Harry Potter is popular at the moment, but there are already so many forums about Harry Potter that you don't get a lot of (active) members. So I suggest no Harry Potter forum.
Once you've found a theme for your site, you can start finding a host.
Tip of this FAQ: Try to find a theme that you like. It is much easier to make a website if you know what you're talking about. So don't make a website where people can request codes if you don't know how to code.
